At the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Haflong, we believe that service to humanity is service to God. We are dedicated to providing essential healthcare and medical support to the poor and needy in Dima Hasao district through our various ongoing initiatives.
Our Core Healthcare Services:
- Charitable Dispensary: Every Sunday, we run a free Charitable Dispensary to provide vital medicines and medical consultations to underprivileged individuals. This unit operates successfully thanks to the active and dedicated volunteer efforts of Dr. Ajay Kr. Paul and Dr. Sandip Das.
Blood Donation Drives: We regularly collaborate with the Civil Hospital, Haflong, to host blood donation camps. We are deeply thankful to the devotees and well-wishers who step forward to donate blood and save lives.
Maternity & Child Welfare Services (MCWS) Project:
Background & Vision
Operating under the guidance of the Ramakrishna Mission Headquarters, Belur Math, and generously funded by the Infosys Foundation, this vital initiative serves as a life-saving healthcare link for underprivileged and tribal families across the remote, steep, and rocky hills of the Dima Hasao district.
Due to geographical isolation and extreme financial hardships, many expectant mothers and infants in these interior areas lack basic health information, regular medical consultations, proper daily nutrition, and consistent growth tracking. This project was specifically designed to bridge this gap, bringing high-quality medical expertise and essential supplies directly to their doorsteps.
Our Core Areas of Focus
- Routine Medical Care: Providing regular, professional health examinations for infants, young children, and pregnant mothers.
- Preventative Health Education: Teaching families basic, practical daily healthcare and sanitization habits to improve cleanliness at home.
- Nutritional Support: Distributing free high-quality food supplements to fight malnutrition and improve daily child development.
- Emergency Medical Intervention: Providing immediate, free access to essential medicines and specialized clinical consultations.
How the Project is Implemented:
We use a meticulous, step-by-step field strategy to ensure that aid directly reaches the most vulnerable and underserved subgroups who do not have access to local hospitals or clinics:
Field Surveys & ASHA Partnerships: Our volunteers travel into interior villages to conduct initial home assessments. We partner closely with local government ASHA workers to access updated records of pregnant women and newborn babies.
Targeted Outreach: Using this shared data, we locate the most underprivileged families, gather baseline health details, and issue personal invitations and day-before reminders for our medical camps.
Clinical Screenings & Consultations: Camps are conducted using a dual model—sending mobile medical teams into remote interior villages and hosting specialized consultations at our main Ramakrishna Mission Haflong campus.
Interactive Q&A Sessions: Moving away from passive check-ups, our visiting doctors host interactive dialogue circles. This gives mothers an open forum to speak directly with specialists and clarify long-held medical doubts regarding prenatal care and child wellness.
Kit & Medicine Distribution: At the conclusion of each camp, families receive free prescribed medicines, multi-vitamins, and custom-packed nutritional food and family hygiene kits to directly improve health habits at home.
